Chapter 16 | Wade

As the days passed after Wade initiated the intimate contact, the relationship between them grew stronger. Having broken down that final barrier, Wade could barely keep his hands and eyes off Adam. Or his mouth, for that matter. He loved kissing Adam. And licking him. And sucking… And he could think of no reason why he shouldn't.

They were alone and enjoying each other's company and each other's bodies.

Why not?

It was sobering to think that if he'd never been marooned in this way, Wade might never have discovered sex could be like this. He might never have met Adam. They came from the same small town, but even if they had met, Wade would never have spent any time with a man like Adam.

And nothing in Wade's life would ever have allowed him the opportunity to uncover this aspect of his sexuality. If he hadn't been stranded on this island, he may have never discovered his own attraction for men and never known how amazing sex could feel with the right person.

Strange as it might seem, his “real” life back in North Carolina had been miserable, while being stranded on a deserted island in the Caribbean represented a paradise where Wade experienced freedom from his shackles, and discovered himself.

It was a sobering and sad thought.

Without the plane crash, Wade would’ve missed out on so much physical and emotional pleasure that other people took for granted; that heterosexual people found without seeming to try.

Whether he could’ve such an experience with another man was completely irrelevant. Wade had fallen head over heels in love with his island mate before he ever acted on the overwhelming physical urge to connect with Adam.

Knowing that Adam felt the same way boosted Wade's confidence to become more adventurous, allowing him to use his imagination and innovation.

He freely admired the man's beautiful body whenever he wanted to, a freeing experience for him. Adam willingly took his clothes off whenever Wade asked him to, and often when Wade hadn't asked at all.

It turned out that Adam could be an incredibly flirty tease, and fun to boot.

It opened up a whole new way of spending their hours of endless recreation time on the island; kissing, touching, and exploring each other's bodies.

Adam tasted so good all over.

One afternoon, Adam returned from foraging with an overloaded basket in his arms filled with a mountain of colorful fruit inside.

“When I checked on these a few days ago, they were far from ready. I didn't expect them to ripen so quickly, but now they're really juicy.” Adam placed the basket down just inside their cave in the shade.

Wade went over and picked the top one off the pile.

“I suppose we'll have to gorge on them,” Adam said, shrugging, “because I don't know how long they'll keep.”

Wade squeezed one in his hand gently and felt it's flesh give beneath his fingers. “It’s a shame we can't make a pie or two and put one in the freezer.”

Adam playfully slapped him on the arm.
